What we teach

Latin dance styles on the Gold Coast

Three authentic Cuban and Dominican dance styles, taught for one purpose: so you can walk onto a social dance floor anywhere and enjoy yourself. Dance salsa like a Cuban, and bachata like a Dominican.

Also known as casino

Cuban salsa

A social partner dance, also known in Cuba as casino. It is primarily a street style for social dancing anywhere you hear music. Improvised rather than choreographed, circular rather than linear, and closely tied to Cuban music. It is the most popular dance at every Latin party, and the best place for beginners to start. We teach this style in the 6:30pm – 7:30pm class every Monday.

Danced in a circle

Rueda de Casino

Cuban salsa danced by many couples together in a circle, with a caller shouting the next move and everybody changing partners on the call. Open level, every Monday at 7:30pm, straight after the salsa class. It is our main specialisation and the most fun you can have in a dance class. To join in you need the foundations of Cuban salsa, which we teach in the 6:30pm class above.

Private lessons only

Authentic Dominican bachata

The original Dominican form, driven by footwork and danced in connection with the music. We teach it as a private lesson only, at our Nerang studio, not as a weekly group class.

Beyond Monday

Where to dance on the Gold Coast

We are not the only Latin dancing on the Gold Coast and we would rather you danced more, not only with us. We support our local DJs who run regular social events, and we encourage our students to go to as many as possible. Experience is the one thing that cannot be taught, and dancing with different partners who learned somewhere else will improve your skills quickly. Two places worth following for what is on:

Ask us on a Monday as well and we will tell you which events we will be at. We often go as a group with our students.
