Cuban Salsa Classes
Cuban Salsa, also known as Casino, is more than just a dance style, it's the Cuban social culture expressed in a dance - a vibrant expression of cultural identity combined with tradition. Unlike other, more structured styles of salsa, Cuban salsa is focused on social dancing rather than performing, making it ideal for dancers simply wanting to enjoy themselves on the dance floor. For this reason, it has quickly grown in popularity, spreading from the streets of Cuba to dance floors around the world.

Cuban salsa music, or timba, is a blend of traditional Latin rhythms with Afro-Cuban beats, making it dynamic and fun for dancers of all levels. Dancers respond to the music by improvising steps, turn patterns and body movements, freely expressing their individuality on the dance floor. Dancers may even use steps from other Cuban dances such as son, rumba, cha cha cha, mambo, reggaeton and more! This style encourages not just technical skill but also a real connection with the music and with your dance partner, offering a deeply personal and enjoyable dancing experience, an another level from simply performing choreographed routines.

In Australia and around the world, salsa music is by far the most popular genre played at most latin dance events, so for beginners we strongly recommend learning salsa as your first style before moving on to other dances.
